PROFILE VIDEO BY ADOBE:
I'm a native San Franciscan. I completed an MFA in Sculpture at the Academy of Art University in 2010 and a BFA in Illustration in 1992. I joined the the faculty of the Illustration Department in 1994. I was Director of Illustration for 7 years. My main focus as Illustration Director was to integrate digital media into the traditional curriculum. During my time at the Academy I’ve also been Acting Director of Graduate New Media and 2D Animation. I also spent several years promoting the Academy and its graduates throughout North America as Director of Alumni and Industry Outreach.
My challenge in the last few years has been to spearhead the Illustration Department's expansion into collaborative interactive mobile media publishing curriculum. My recent promotion to Director of Arts Technology allows me to continue supporting digital technologies for the Illustration program.
Utilizing my sculpture degree I’ve expanded my efforts to create and implement curriculum for the newly-created Jewelry and Metal Arts Program that incorporates and adapts digital industrial techniques for sculpture, and jewelry including rapid prototyping and desktop 3D printing.
I illustrated the best selling children’s book The Greedy Triangle by Marilyn Burns. It is the most widely used math text in grammar schools everywhere.
